The velvet crab has a wide, flattenedcarapace that is blue, covered in reddish-brown
hair, giving it a velvety texture. It has bright redeyes and ten narrow teeth between the eyes. It hasvelvety pincer of the same size that can deliver a painful nip. Adults feed on brown seaweeds, molluscs and crustaceans, while juveniles feed on small crabs and barnacles.
