Vibheeshana, the king of Lanka, Sugreeva, the monkey- king, brave Hanuman and the crown-prince Angad spent their days happily in Ayodhya. One day, in the presence of all the monkey warriors in the court including Sugreeva, Vibheeshana requested Rama, “Lord! It has been several months since we arrived. We do not feel like leaving you, but we are bound by the rules of the world. We have to look after our kingdoms as well. Therefore, allow us to go, Lord.”

Rama smiled and gave his consent. Thereafter, he gave everyone clothes and wealth and bade them farewell. Vali had left Angad in Rama’s care, so Angad did not want to go. But Rama convinced him and sent him away. Hanuman stayed back as he wanted to serve Rama. When Sugreeva commented on his devotion to Sri Rama, Hanuman tore his chest open to show Sugreeva that Rama and Seeta were seated on the throne of his heart. Sugreeva at once freed Hanuman from all bondage and went back to his capital Kishkindha.
