This purple, floating snail has a long cylindrical snout, a paperthin shell, and lacks eyes and operculum. It agitates water with itsfoot, creating bubbles, binding them together with mucus and makes a raft to stay afloat on the ocean surface. If the bubble raft breaks, it will sink and die. It feeds on blue bottles and by-the-wind sailors.
