It measures under 40 cm tall at the shoulder, and weighs between 4 and 6 kg. Its diet consists of leaves, shoots, fruits, insects or small rodents and birds. Even though it is not a grazing animal yet its hind limbs are longer than its forelimbs. Very little is known about this species due to its recent discovery.
