You will need:
- 2 teaspoonfuls of baking
soda - Vinegar
- Fridge
- Drinking glass
- Gas stove
- Utensil and a plastic
container - ½ cup of iodized salt
- ½ cup of calcium
bicarbonate
Combine basic chemistry and household items, to make water marbles. The interesting part is that these marbles are not made out of water at all.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Firstly, take1 teaspoonful of baking soda in a glass, and add a few drops of vinegar to it.
- Swirl this mixture around. Add one more teaspoonful of baking soda and a few more drops of vinegar and swirl it around gently once more.
- Place this mixture in the freezer for 10 minutes. This mixture is sodium acetate.
- Add half a cup of calcium bicarbonate to the sodium acetate mixture. The mixture will bubble.
- Pour half a cup of iodized salt into this sodium acetate and calcium bicarbonate mixture, and mix with a spoon.
- Pour this mixture into a utensil and bring it to a boil on the gas stove.
- After 7 minutes, pour the mixture into a glass or plastic container and let it cool down. After 15 minutes or so it will turn into gel.
RESULT
The minute the gel comes into contact with the air, it loses its polar ability and sticks to itself, thus creating small solid water spheres.
