A weather front is a zone or boundary of transition where two different types of air masses meet. For example, a warm air mass and a cold air mass. The drastic changes in the weather occur due to these weather fronts.
There are three types of fronts: cold, warm and stationary.
♦ A cold front is a boundary between rapidly moving cold air and warm air mass. The cold air replaces the warm air with a push.
♦ A warm front is a boundary between slowly moving warm air and a mass of cold air. Here the warm air replaces cooler air.
♦ A stationary front shows little or no drastic movement in between two contrasting air masses.
