What are the Rings Around Saturn?

Saturn has the biggest and brightest rings. Galileo, an astronomer, was the first to notice these rings in 1610. These rings vary in size and are formed from ice and rocks. The Earth has only one moon, but Saturn has around 60. There are seven large rings of Saturn, but actually each large ring is made up of many small rings. Saturn’s rings could have been formed due to the crashing of asteroids into these moons and breaking them into pieces, which in turn gave an appearance of ‘rings’. The largest ring spans up to 7,000 times the diameter of the planet.
