Radiation is energy that is given out in the form of waves or particles from a source. Radiation can be in the form of heat, sound and light. For example, the heat from a hot stove or light bulb is heat radiation. Similarly, the warmth of the Sun felt while standing under it is due to the ultra-violet radiation. The other major form of radiation is radioactive radiation which is emitted by radioactive material or by nuclear reactions. The Sun, the Earth, soil, microwave, television, cell phones all these things expose us to radiation.
