What Makes Petrol Burn?

Petrol is a liquid fuel used for running vehicles. It is a mixture of carbon and hydrogen, commonly known as hydrocarbons*. The main property of these compounds is that they are light liquids which boil at low temperature. Carbon and oxygen combine with each other quickly as they are attracted to each other. The moment carbon combines with oxygen, burning starts and heat is generated. Petrol is highly inflammable because it boils at a very low temperature and catches fire easily due to the same.
