The Hyoid Bone is a horseshoe-shaped bone that is located within the neck. This bone lies in between the chin and the thyroid ligament. It is the only bone that is not connected to any other bones. The Hyoid Bone is the one and only bone of the throat. It is connected only by muscles and ligaments. The Hyoid Bone is the anchor for all of the muscles that connect to the floor of the mouth, the tongue, the larynx, the epiglottis and the pharynx.
