Damnoen Saduak is the largest and most famous floating market in Thailand. It is about 100 kilometres southwest of Bangkok. Damnoen a Saduak Floating Market opens every day. Once a person is in the market, he or she has a choice of walking along the banks of the canals or hiring a boat to cruise along the canals. The boat stops when passengers want to buy something. The food sellers along the docks have photos of their food-items on offer. Floating markets are well supported locally and mainly serve as tourist attractions. One of their purposes is to allow domestic visitors and international tourists to be able to experience the culture of riverside shopping.
