Light from the Sun takes 8 minutes to reach the Earth. From the Earth, the Sun looks like it moves across the sky. This is because the Earth spins. The Sun appears to rise in the east in the morning and climb high in the sky towards midday. In the afternoon, it seems to move lower in the sky before setting in the west.
