The Chail Cricket Stadium in Himachal Pradesh, India, is the highest cricket ground in the world. Built in 1893 after levelling a hilltop, this cricket pitch is 2444 metres above the sea-level. It was built by Maharaja of Patiala, Bhupinder Singh, who developed Chail as his summer capital. The ground was used for playing friendly matches by him. The Chail Cricket Ground is surrounded by thick forests of deodar. Now, it is used as the school playground by Chail Military School. During school vacation it is also used for polo. There is a well-maintained basketball court as well as there are goal posts for football.
