White-crowned Robin-chat

The Cossypha albicapila (scientific name) or white-crowned robin-chat is found in the savannah or sub-tropical habitat of Africa. This bird’s habitat ranges from West Africa towards Central Africa, from Benin and Burkina Faso to Central African Republic, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Togo. Nearly 11 inches in length, the white-crowned robin-chat is the largest of its species. It has a black head and white crown. The back, wings and tail are all black, while the belly and undertail feathers are orange in colour. It eats only insects which it scratches from leaf litters on the ground. They are monogamous breeders. The clutch has 2 eggs which are incubated for about 11-14 days. Its IUCN listing is the LEAST CONCERN.
