The animals were cosily settled in for the night in the barn, the stable, the chicken coop and the pens. But suddenly, some disturbance erupted. “Shoo! Shoo! Out!” One by one the animals became restless and soon everyone was awake. “What’s the matter?” “What’s happening?” “What’s that noise?” “Who’s in the stable?” Hearing the sounds, Farmer Matthews awoke and came out, carrying his shotgun. He looked around to see if anyone was trying to steal his animals, or whether a fox got into the hen house. But no one was there. Farmer Matthews went cautiously towards the stable and peeped in. His horses, the donkey and some of the others were leaping around, pulling at their tethers. A wasp had got in and was causing the ruckus! Farmer Matthews put down his gun, laughing, and picking up a blanket, he caught the wasp and threw it out! Soon the farm was peacefully asleep.
