Why do Birds have Beaks?

A bird’s beak, which is also at times called as the bill, is more like a jaw of the bird. It helps the bird to chew food. While animals have heavy jawbones and teeth birds have light beaks so that they may fly easily. The beak of the bird also helps it to tear things into pieces. Each bird has a different shape of beak so that it may suit the specific bird’s eating habits. Thus, a bird that has a long, pointy beak enables it to get nectar from flowers. The bird that has a short beak feeds on insects. Seeds require strong beaks as they can crack nuts and other foods with them. The beaks of  birds keep growing all their life.
