Why do Cat’s Eyes Glow in the Dark?

Cats are the members of a special family which includes tigers, lions and leopards. Cats and the other members of the family are alike in many ways. Their bodies are adapted to hunt and kill. They owe their hunting expertise to their eyes, which are adapted to see in the dark. Their eyes open wide at night to let in maximum light. The interior part of the cat’s eyes is coated with a polished silver-like substance. Due to this silvery coat, every bit of light entering the cat’s eyes is reflected back, making them glow and shine.
