Why do our eyes water when we are punched in the nose?

Our nose is one of the most soft and sensitive body-parts. The nasal passage of our nose is connected to our eyes via tear ducts. Normally, this passage allows the lacrimal fluid or our tears to drain through our nose. However, when a person gets hit or punched on the nose, the impact leaves our nose filled with hefty amounts of liquid. This further blocks our nasal passage, leaving the lacrimal fluid with no space to flow out through the nose. Therefore, it chooses the alternative path and our eyes begin to water.
