Why doesn’t soda go flat immediately after opening the can?

Soda is a carbonated drink. Carbonated drinks are sealed under high pressure, low temperatures, with carbon dioxide dissolved in each can or bottle. Without this the drink would not have its fizz. As soon as you open the can or the bottle, the pressure inside the can decreases. It immediately converts the carbon dioxide to gas and escapes from the drink in the form of bubbles. But this process takes a while. The formation of bubbles in soda is not random but is in a form of streams of bubbles. So, the diffusion of the carbon dioxide through the water takes time. Hence, soda does not go flat immediately after opening the can.
