If anyone else got better marks than Princess Stella at school or if any other student was praised, she would sulk for days! “She must learn to lose without throwing tantrums,” said the king, “Stella is so vain that she wants all the prizes.” Soon, an opportunity arose for Stella’s parents to teach her a lesson. The Sports Day of the school was being held and Princess Stella boasted that she would win the first prize in the races. The races began and Princess Stella lost all of them to little Mary! When the time came for the prizes to be given, Mary’s name was announced. But as she went up to get her prize, Stella began to scream. The king and the queen immediately asked their attendants to carry Stella away! She was left alone and quickly became quiet, for there was no one to hear her screaming! She never again threw tantrums when she lost.
