Ramdeen was a Pandit. He planned a trip to Kashi for some religious work. Sheikh’s mother, on hearing this, requested Ramdeen to take along Sheikh Chilli as his help. Ramdeen knew about Sheikh’s foolishness, but took him along as there was nobody else to be taken. So, Ramdeen and Sheikh reached Kashi and stayed in a hut. Sheikh was very impressed with Ramdeen’s knowledge and wisdom. Ramdeen told him it was all because of his parrot, pointing to his pet parrot in the cage. Wanting to play a prank, Sheikh thought he would hide Ramdeen’s parrot when Ramdeen would go to sleep. He took Ramdeen’s parrot and set it free in the sky. He then hid the cage behind some sacks kept in the corner of the room. When Ramdeen got up, he found the cage missing. He started searching here and there. He asked Sheikh about the parrot. Sheikh replied sheepishly, “Panditji, your wisdom has flown to the sky, it seems.” Ramdeen understood who the culprit was and regretted the moment he decided to bring Sheikh with him.
