Wreckfish inhabit rocky reefs, caves andshipwrecks. Their compressed bodies have
small rough scales, scaly heads, spines on thedorsal fins and horizontal ridges on the opercleswith short spines in the backs. They stay in schools of at least 5 and feed on crustaceans, mackerel, sand bass and whitefish. Lifespan is 60 years.
