It is a long-haired mammal; most of them are domesticated. Yaks are heavily built animals with bulky frames, sturdy legs, and rounded cloven hooves. Males can weigh 350 to 580 kg and females can weigh 225 to 255 kg. Their breeding season is winters, and the female usually gives birth to one calf after a gestation of 257-270 days.
