Yakushima is an island in the Kagoshima Prefecture, in Japan. A dense emerald landscape overflows from the Yakushima Island. Known primarily for its wildlife and abundant cedar forest, the Yakushima Island was designated a ‘Man and Biosphere Reserve’ in 1980, by the UNESCO. The island has had many mentions in documents and the diaries of travellers since the 6th century. Filled with lush vegetation, the island had until the 1960 been logged at some point or the other, but was always replanted and reseeded.
