No doubt, ‘zero’ means none but still it is one of the most important numbers in maths because without it calculation can be done but not so easy as it is done now. There is a controversy regarding the invention of zero. According to a few people before Aryabhatta, zero was in existence in Babylonian astronomy. But finally, an Indian mathematician and astronomer Aryabhatta is credited with the invention of zero in 498 AD. He invented it on the basis of a vedic chant. He stated that zero value is actually place-to-place in ten times.
The invention of zero was not just one of common inventions at that time but it was in reality the need of the time because to denote ‘nothing’ people were using empty space that was causing confusion. To erase such confusion, zero was in need to be invented and thus invented. Later, it spread to all countries across the globe.
